The finest Academic and University Surgeons Come Together Each Year at ASC.
Welcome to the official website of the Academic Surgical Congress!
The 11th Annual ASC will take place February 2-4, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency along the Jacksonville Riverfront in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a new venue for us and we are extremely excited about the prospects of academia at this year's meeting. Each year, our meeting experiences tremendous growth and the quality of the science tops itself. Last year, we again recorded a record number of abstract submissions and record attendance. Our continued growth and reputation as a premier venue thanks to you!
The ASC is an exciting venue to hear and discuss the latest scientific advances in all disciplines pertinent to academic surgery and the quality of the meeting depends on the submission of your best work. We will again showcase sessions in education, clinical outcomes, health services research, as well as the basic and translational science. We are eager to share what we believe will be our best program ever with selected honorary speakers as well as timely and relevant Hot Topic sessions and society committee sessions.
Abstracts accepted for presentation at the ASC are eligible for manuscript submission to the Journal of Surgical Research (AAS) and Surgery (SUS). This year, manuscripts can be submitted to the respective publications chairs of the two societies up until October 1, 2016. In addition, we are establishing a new relationship with the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). ASC-related manuscripts can be considered for publication at the time of the ASC if submitted in the early fall of 2015. More details are forthcoming.
We thank you for sharing your work with us and look forward to doing so again this year.
With very best wishes,
Kasper S. Wang, MD, FACS, FAAP
Chair, SUS Committee on Publications
Adil Haider, MD, FACS
Chair AAS Program Committee

Apply now for your Visa
The visa application process to enter the United States has become subjected to greater degrees of scrutiny than in the past. For this reason, the application process can take up to six months or more. You will need to apply for your visa as early as possible, but no later than three months before you wish to enter the United States.
Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. Visitor visas are nonimmigrant visas for persons who want to enter the United States temporarily for business (visa category B-1), tourism, pleasure or visiting (visa category B-2), or a combination of both purposes (B-1/B-2).
There are several steps to apply for a visa. The order of these steps and how you complete them may vary at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you apply. Please consult the instructions available on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you will apply.
