Welcome Message From the ASC 2013 Chairs
The time is here for all of us to start thinking about the 8th Annual Academic Surgical Congress (ASC). The Society of University Surgeons (SUS) and the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) jointly hosted the successful 7th Annual ASC this past February in Las Vegas, Nevada. We continue to have increasing participation with another record number of attendees. The ASC has become the most important meeting of the year for clinical and basic surgical sciences. The 8th Annual ASC will take place from February 5-7, 2013 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. The AAS and SUS expect even greater participation and encourage all members to participate in the growth of academic surgery.
The joint website for electronic abstract submissions and for meeting information and registration will be open from June 15, 2012 until August 10, 2012. The ASC is an exciting venue to hear and discuss the latest scientific advances in all disciplines pertinent to academic surgery. The breadth of work being presented includes topics in education, clinical outcomes, health services research, global health, as well as the basic sciences. We would also like to remind all members to encourage their colleagues at their home institutions to submit their work for presentation. Abstracts will be considered for presentation in full or quickshot oral format. Again this year, we will have plenary sessions dedicated to basic science, clinical outcomes, and education. There also will be new features, including break-out sessions to allow for networking among attendees with similar clinical and research interests.
We hope that each of you plans to attend the 8th Annual ASC. It is going to be a terrific meeting and hopefully the best ASC to date!
