Presentation Guidelines
- Plenary presentations are 8 minutes in length, followed by a 4-minute discussion period.
- Oral presentations are 8 minutes in length, followed by a 4-minute discussion period.
- Quick Shot presentations are 3 minutes in length with 5 slides maximum (including title, acknowledgements, etc), followed by a 2-minute discussion period.
These time limits will be strictly adhered to. Timers will be used for all sessions.
The SUS New Member Poster session involves creation of a standard 4x6' poster and preparation of a short (3-5 min) summary to be delivered in a small informal group setting for discussion with authors of other SUS New Member posters, as well as leadership of the SUS.
Manuscript Submission Guidelines
All presenters, regardless of membership status, are invited to submit a manuscript in advance of the meeting to be considered for publication in either the Journal of Surgical Research (official publication of the AAS) or the journal Surgery (official publication of the SUS). Manuscript submission is optional. The choice of which journal to submit to is at the discretion of the authors, with the exception of the AAS and SUS Plenary sessions. Manuscript submission of data presented in either AAS or SUS Plenary session should be submitted to the respective society journal. Double submission of the same manuscript to both journals is not allowed.
The deadline for online manuscript submission is Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:59pm EST. Please submit your manuscript through the online submission site for each journal:
Be sure to indicate "AAS Manuscript" on "chose article type" if submitting to Journal of Surgical Research.
Be sure to indicate "SUS Society Paper" on "chose article type" if submitting to Surgery.
Please adhere to the guidelines in the Instructions for Authors for each journal.
For AAS Members
The AAS will present $500 awards for the BEST OVERALL MANUSCRIPT and the BEST MANUSCRIPT BY AN AAS NEW MEMBER. To be eligible, presenting authors must submit a manuscript for publication in the Journal of Surgical Research by January 6, 2012 11:59pm EST. Please be sure to indicate "AAS paper"when submitting the manuscript to Journal of Surgical Research.
